This is a preorder! These will ship out on November 16th!
These plants are primarily for Zones 9A and 9B. Don’t know your Zone? Click here.
These are the Florida 50 Essential Plants for Zone 9A and Zone 9B. There are 50 plant cards, including 23 Florida Natives, each containing one plant with a photo, essential information such as Zone, Sun/Shade, Size, Color and more. I wanted to create a tangible resource that is fun to use and makes designing easy. You can bring the cards out in the yard to visualize how the plants will look or you can lay them out in front of you when you draw a sketch. You can also use them to mix and match colors to see which you like the best. When you are done deciding which plants you will use, you can bring them into your local nursery and hand them to the salesperson and say, I want 3 of these and 2 of these etc and get exactly what you want since each card has the botanical name as well as common name.
Zone 9A and 9B are tricky zones in Florida. They get the high heat and humidity of Central and Southern Florida but can also drop down to below freezing temperatures in the winter: 9A- 20 to 25 degrees minimum temperature and 9B- 25 to 30 degree minimum temperature. Freezing temperatures as low as these can kill or badly damage tropical plants. For this reason, this pack of cards represents those plants which can withstand the cold dips in temperature OR are treated like a perennial (dying down to the ground and coming back in the spring). They are clearly marked with the Zone that they are hardy in. If you are looking for tropicals to add to your 9A or 9B gardens, you will find them in the Zone 10A and 10B card pack. Just know that you will have to bring them in when the temperatures go down to freezing or cover them with frost cover. My suggestion is to use the 9A and 9B cards as the bones of your landscape and add the tropicals sparingly.
Cards are grouped into categories, Shrubs, Perennials, Grasses, Vines, and Ground Cover, as well as Large, Medium and Small, making it easy to sort, plan, and design.
With just these 50 plants, you can confidently design your entire Florida landscape: foundation beds, border plantings, butterfly gardens, entryways, and patio areas. Every plant in the deck is proven to thrive in Florida’s sun, soil, and seasons, making this the perfect set for Zones 9A and 9B.
Each deck also includes access to downloadable resources that walk you through a complete landscape project from site prep to planting to finishing touches.
This is Florida Landscape Design in your pocket. I’m so excited to see what you create with them!
There is some overlap with the Zone 10 Cards, Zone 10 having more tropicals, and Zone 9 being more cold-hardy.
Included:
54 Cards (50 Plant Cards • 4 Information Cards)
Each card is 2.5” x 3.5”
Access to Downloadable Guides
Printed on High-Quality Casino-grade Cardstock
Durable Finish
